KNOCKOUT – Spring & Summer 2011 may be the WORST Termite, Carpenter Ant, Wasp, Bee, and all round insect pest season that Nassau, Suffolk, New York City, Westchester, and Rockland has seen in Years.
March 16, 2011
If you thought this winter’s snow storms gave you “Snow Fatigue”, get ready for “Bug Battery”! Those heavy snow falls that you’ve been shoveling all winter long and just kept piling up along your driveway acted like a thermal blanket keeping the ground and soil beneath it warm and moist – perfect conditions for insects to survive the harsh freezing dry temperatures.*
I cannot stress enough the coming infestation of these pests. Like home and business owners prepare for winter storms by buying snow shovels, rock salt, and hiring a snow plowing service – NOW is the time for home and business owners to prepare for the coming insect invasion.
You spend hundreds if not thousands on fire alarms, smoke detectors, on annual burglar alarm contracts, outdoor flood lights, and maybe some video cameras to protect your property from fire and theft, BUT the odds of your property succumbing to termite infestation and damage is 100 times greater. What’s your termite protection budget?
On Long Island, throughout NYC, and in Westchester and Rockland, it isn’t a question of IF….it’s WHEN. 2006 statistics show that in NYC 1 in 26 properties had experienced termite problems – (per Dow Agro), and that across the United States there can be as many as 5 separate termite colonies surrounding a single home. So how lucky do YOU feel THIS year?
We strongly suggest that everyone make the investment to have an ALWAYS ACTIVE SENTRICON TERMITE COLONY ELIMINATION SYSTEM installed around their property. This is an improved SENTRICON system. It works even faster , better, and is greener than the original termite baiting system. No more switching out bait with the new active ingredient ALWAYS ACTIVE Recruit HD. ALWAYS ACTIVE Recruit HD works on eliminating the entire termite colony as soon as the very first termite visits an in ground Sentricon Station. And this improved Recruit HD works year round eliminating subterranean termite colonies and their potential expansion through every season including winter months. A pest control technician will maintain the Sentricon System to check on activity and replace product if necessary to ensure maximum effectiveness.
But that’s just termites, spring and summer will be a cornucopia of insect pests – Carpenter Ants, Sugar Ants, Bees, Wasps, Yellow Jackets, Carpenter Bees, Cockroaches, Flies, Millipedes, Centipedes, Powder Post Beetles, Crickets, Pantry Moths, and Stink Bugs. Protect YOUR home and business with the YEAR ROUND PEST PROTECTION of a Knockout Pest Control KO-12 Program. There is a KO-12 Program for both residential and commercial properties. *As per a recent survey of entomologists conducted by the Entomology Society of America, 95% answered that weather patterns definitely have a direct effect on insect populations and nearly 85% sited that Termites are among the insects most affected. Sixty percent of those surveyed also predict the moist weather conditions in the Northeast will mark a more active termite swarm season this year.
Comments
We seem to have issues with multiple insects in our home since the weather has been changing. So far what we have seen are centipedes (rather large ones), flying ants (I think?), regular ants, some spiders (clear to yellow-ish in color), and pantry moths 9we have been attempting to combat these pests since the beginning of March and have seen some progress. We have been using Boric Acid, but it does not seem to be reducing the amount of insects (specifically the centipeds) in our home.
Your Blog can’t be more correct. If this is what I’m experiencing now, what is going to happen when the weather gets warmer and wetter? I will be contacting you for service and may take you up on the KO-12 program.
