PEST CONTROL TECHNICIAN TRAININGAll of Knockout Pest Control’s Technicians are Certified in the proper application of commercial pesticides and pest management and control techniques; receiving, at a minimum, 100 hours of classroom education and training learning about pest identification, biology, and habitat, and methods in eliminating/removing/controlling/monitoring pests using an Integrated Pest Management Approach – IPM. Each new Knockout Pest Control Tech undergoes a probationary period of in-the-field supervised training and then receives on-going continuing education to reinforce skills and learn about new products and techniques. This training also covers, but is not limited to: The knowledge of NYS pesticide rules and regulations regarding usage, restrictions, and notification legislation guidelines, as well as NYS laws on wildlife; product use and knowledge of inert and active ingredients within products, as well as a complete understanding of the use of all methods, products, and chemicals used – including the associated hazard levels of toxicity [danger, warning, and caution], length of exposure, application techniques, precautions, protective measures to be taken, advisories to be given, rules on cleanliness, proper storage, and proper responses to accidental spills, to mention only some of the areas a Knockout Pest Control Technician has to know before he/she is sent into the field. In addition to the technical pest control knowledge and ability, each Knockout Pest Control Tech receives in-house customer interaction training, which includes: respecting private property, cleanliness [which includes the use of shoe “booties” when entering home], courtesy, patience, communication skills, and an understanding of the emotional stress many people have when their home/business has been invaded/infested by pest(s). |
